I've been a subscriber to SI for as long as I can remember. My dad gets me my subscription every year for my birthday, and he's been a subscriber for the better part of 40 years. So basically, SI has been a family tradition for us.
This App takes that tradition and injects some steroids into it.
I had zero issues downloading any issues as another reviewer said. I use a Kindle Fire and although it did take a couple of minutes to get an issue, it moved right along and didn't require any restarting or force closes. After looking at the issue on the Kindle Fire, it's easy to see why it would take it a minute or two to download, because one issue has a TON of content in it.
I have always wondered what SI would be like if you had the ability to watch videos and see highlights right along with the articles, and this is exactly what that is. I love being able to access extra content right from the magazine, instead of having to log on to a computer to find it after reading about something.
It also looks fantastic on the device. For many of the photos, you can turn the device into landscape mode and tap the photo to see a larger version of it. Nice touch.
Overall, I REALLY enjoy the app. I'll always love my print copies of the magazine, but now I've got a new way to enjoy one of my favorite publications.
