"The Moon Secrets" was the second interactive book from Genera Interactive that I've looked at (the first was The Candy Factory). The app is rated for children, which Amazon defines as 9 years old or younger. In my opinion, it's really aimed at kids from about age three through kindergarten, since many kids are already computer savvy and playing video games by the time they enter first grade.
The Moon Secrets is a very polished and professional-looking app. It tells a cute story with colorful graphics, and it's short enough to hold the attention of a young child. Most pages have interactive elements that encourage touching the screen to see what moves or lights up. I especially like the pages where the girl is looking through her telescope - you can actually move the view around, like she was swiveling the telescope.
When the story begins, you have the choice of you or your child reading the simple text, or a narrator will read to you. The narrator is real - not a computer-generated voice - and she has a spirited voice that's perfect for the story.
My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that there is no in-app control for the sound. To adjust the sound, you have to leave the app and go to the home page, then return to the app.
All-in-all, this is one of the best interactive book apps for younger kids that I've seen.
