So I see this "game" which isn't really a game, it's a collection of games. I avoided it several times because I thought for 99c it's got to be a bunch of junk. After many, many Free Crap of the Day from Amazon I was really looking for something new and fun. I figured for 99c, what the heck, I will skip my coffee tomorrow. I already had Walkabout and Grisly Manor from FATOD. So for me it was more 3 in 1 than 5 in 1. So here's the lowdown. The star ratings are mine.
Grisly Manor, 5 stars (former FAOTD): This short but sweet, point and click adventure has top notch graphics, and some pretty difficult puzzles. If you didn't get this as the FAOTD and like old school adventure games, this alone is worth the 99c price of the whole app. Better print out a walk-through though, cause you will get stumped.
Chickens Quest, 4 stars: This lemmings style game requires you to get the chickens from one side of the screen to the other. It sounds simple, and for the most part it is. Drop boxes and logs in the water and blow stuff up. I haven't gotten very far into it yet, but despite its simplicity, I find this game a lot of fun. I also see there is a stop sign, and 3 other things I have no idea what they do yet. I'm hoping it will get progressively harder (and it is very slowly). It's very cutesy and the controls are a pain occasionally, hence the 4 stars instead of 5, but I think I will be playing this often cause I love lemmings type games.
Robot 99, 4 stars: I don't know how to describe this game. Robots fall from the sky and you have to help them get parachutes so they don't crash into the ground. The game is a lot of fun in short bursts, but gets repetitive quickly, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. The controls and graphics are great, and overall its a pretty fun game.
Walkabout, 4 stars (former FAOTD): This is a puzzle game where you try to collect stars by moving around the board. Sounds simple enough but you can only step on each square once, and it is deceptively difficult. Graphics, controls and such are all top notch, and it would be a 5 star game if not for the pain in the butt, master of the obvious, annoying as **** princess that nags you every time you fail a level.
Float, 3 stars: Okay, so every bundle has to have one dud and this is it. Click the balloons to keep them off the spikes for x amount of time. Sounds easy, and it really is, and very repetitive. About six levels into it I was already bored. I still gave it 3 stars because the graphics are nice and the controls are responsive. I don't know, not my cup of tea, but maybe yours.
Being 5 games in 1 you can imagine that this is a huge download. You can download it on 3g, but after 45 minutes I was 47% done and gave up. Came home and did the other 53% in under 10 minutes on my home WiFi. My only two real complaints are minor. First is that these are not stand alone games, makes me wonder if these versions are going to keep up with updates. Second is that you can't exit the games back to the launch pad. You have to close the game, then reopen this to launch another game. Would be nice if you could exit back to the launch pad somehow.
TL;DR? It's 5 games for 99c, buy it already, stop being cheap, it's worth it. And it's got that charity thing going.
Finally, I want to get my 6th game!
